TELEHEALTH FOR WOMEN

The recent upheaval that the world experienced due to the Covid-19 pandemic was devastating in more than one way. In order to continue to provide health care, we added an entire telehealth option for all our patients and launched TeleGYN for all.

In alignment with the mission of Walk In GYN Care, we offer the same โ€œno waitโ€ and immediate access for virtual care.

As you are aware that there are many conditions which will still require an in-person visit because of the need for an actual exam, a sonogram, blood or urine testing. To make the process simpler, we compiled a list of when you might need an in-person visit vs. a virtual visit.

WHEN IS A VIRTUAL VISIT A GOOD OPTION?

  1. Results discussion: If you have already had an in-person visit and appropriate testing done, then a virtual visit can save you time and traveling expenses. The provider can go over the important results and make a follow up plan through shared decision making.
  2. Treatment monitoring: If you are on a management plan and you require a check-in with the provider that does not require a physical exam, ultrasound or blood work then a virtual visit is a good option.
  3. Prescription refills: Certain prescription refills that do not require a physical exam, blood or vaginal testing or ultrasound may also qualify for a virtual visit.
  4. Other questions or concerns: If other questions or concerns arise or if you need emergency contraception, counseling for unrelated conditions, that do not require a physical exam then feel free to utilize this option.

Please remember that a virtual visit option is a powerful tool to help with continuity of your care. However, it can never replace an in-person visit specially in Womenโ€™s Health since there are many conditions that can be missed without a comprehensive exam and testing.

WHEN IS A VIRTUAL VISIT NOT CONSIDERED A GOOD OPTION?

  1. Physical symptoms: If you are suffering from pain, vaginal discharge, heavy periods, pressure symptoms or any other symptoms that require a provider to check you comprehensively then please schedule an in-person visit or just walk-in at any of our locations in NY or CA.
  2. Early pregnancy confirmation: If you just found out that you have missed a period or are being monitored for pregnancy confirmation, you need to be seen in person since you will require blood work and ultrasound as needed.
  3. STD testing: If you require a complete STD testing for any reason, then itโ€™s best that you come in for a check-up. There are at-home over the counter tests available but their accuracy is still not a 100% confirmed. Our providers can care for you in a compassionate and timely manner and give you proper guidance in-person as needed.
  4. Annual or wellness check-up: This check-up does require a physical exam so that a pap and breast exam can be performed as appropriate.
  5. Prescription refills: Those refills that might require a blood pressure, weight check or blood work and ultrasound examination may necessitate an office visit.

If your provider feels that a follow up in-person visit is necessary after the virtual consult then that visit will be considered a separate billable visit since both visits have required our services, time and resources.

Please note that at this time we can offer virtual care GYN services only in the state of California and New York. Please use the correct buttons to make your telehealth appointment.

If you are a resident of California and need an appointment with Dr. Gupta then please check our self-pay fees for tele-health appointments here since Dr. Gupta is not in network with CA insurances.
