In times where medicine has become more impersonal, his holistic approach generates trust and alleviates concern during each and every encounter.
Prior to joining the team at WALK IN GYN, Dr. Tonsor earned his Bachelor's Degree with Magna Cum Laude honors and completed a Master's Degree in Biological Sciences from Eastern Illinois University. He received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. Dr. Amr Etman, MD, FACOG, MMM, CPE
Physician
Northern Blvd location
Dr Etman is originally from Egypt. He graduated from medical school in 1987. He practiced medicine there until 1996 where he travelled to the United States to continue his doctorate degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at State University of New York, Upstate Medical University, at Syracuse. He then obtained a residency in the same institution.
In 2008, at the end of his residency, he moved to Wyoming, an underserved area, a requirement to acquire citizenship. He and his family followed an OB/GYN job offer to Rock Springs, Wyoming, a town of 38,000 in the southwest corner of the state. Rock Springs has a grittiness that the locals are proud to claim, but the patients were kind. In his eight years there, he accrued valuable experience as a physician and, later, as an administrator.
Rock Springs was an underserved community—he returned to work in late 2012 committed to making the clinic a one-stop shop for family healthcare and not just for Obstetrics and Gynecology. He also worked to deepen the clinic’s ties with the community. Teenage pregnancy rates were rising in the area, in addition of counselling about contraception and safe sex, he created a clinic for pregnant girls from surrounding schools to ensure they were as prepared as they could be for motherhood.
With the intention to have further education in healthcare administration, he obtained the prestigious management certifications, CPE and MMM (Certified Physician Executive and Master of Medical Management).
Walk In GYN Care is honored to have Dr. Etman join the team with his wealth of clinical and administrative skills. Aside from being a compassionate and stellar physician, he loves cooking and walking his dog.
